If you want to say a month in Japanese, say the number that the month is and then add 'gatsu' at the end of it. For example:
- January= Ichigatsu
- February= Nigatsu
- March= Sangatsu
- April= Nanagatsu/Shigatsu
- May= Gogatsu
- June= Rokugatsu
- July= Nanagatsu/Shichigatsu
- August= Hachigatsu
- September= Kyuugatsu
- October= Juugatsu
- November= Juuichigatsu
- December= Juunigatsu
To ask, 'when is your birthday?' : Tanjoobi wa itsu desu ka
To answer: (month) yokka desu
eg: Hachigatsu yokka desu
Age
In many cultures, age is a sensitive subject so be careful if you're asking around peoples' ages.
To ask someone's name say "Nan sai desu ka" The answer would sound like "(Age) sai desu"
IMPORTANT!! Some websites say '10' like 'juu' or jyu' or 'jū' so they are all considered correct! Although it is quite confusing! |
